Abstract
Abortion in the Western Pacific Region is subject to a variety of legal and cultural constraints, and the scarcity of data reflects these constraints. The consequences pf illegal abortion have a significant impact on maternal mortality and morbidity. This report examines the current position in the Region according to available data, and makers recommendations for future action. Women's Experiences of abortion in the Western Pacific Region is volume 4 in the series of booklets that looks into the priority issues for action as identified by the Global Commission on Women's Health.
