The Nutrition guidelines handbook is not one more work on scientific nutrition. Its goal is to facilitate the practical implementation of basic notions that are necessary in evaluating nutritional problems.
It explains the different stages necessary in setting up a food programmes : the different nutritional strategies, the surveys and the nutritional programmes.

Different sections of Medecins San Frontieres have contributed to compiling this handbook in order to reach a certain standardization of approach in emergency food situations.

This handbook is for all health personnel involved in emergency food programmes. We hope it will facilitate their work.

Nutrition Guidelines is to be added to the other manuals Medecins Sans Frontieres has already published since thanks to its accumulated field experience. All o them are meant to be aids in decision-making in any given situation.
